A.I. can imitate familiar styles, string together plausible sentences, and even produce an impressive story or argument for a few pages.

But it cannot substitute for the real-world experience, emotion, judgment, taste, charm, and quirks that a human author provides. Those qualities, often intangible, are what make a book stand out and resonate with readers.
